My Healing Place at St. Francis

My Healing Place

Grief is a lonely experience – but no one, child or adult, should ever have to grieve alone.
My Healing Place at St. Francis is a new initiative sponsored by the North Carolina Institute for Spiritual Direction and Formation in tandem with St. Francis United Methodist Church.  My Healing Place is free grief support program for children (ages 5 and older) and adults, who have experienced the death of a loved one. The grief support groups are not faith-based, though the facilitators will certainly support any faith/spiritual topic initiated by a group member.  Grief Support groups for children will be divided by age, and adult groups will be divided by the type of loss they are most acutely grieving. Groups will be ongoing and meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings of each month, from 7-8:15pm.  Groups are supervised by trained grief therapists and child life specialists and led by two trained facilitators who offer compassion, deep listening, and a willingness to hold hope when the child or adult cannot.
All are welcome. For more information about attending a group, contact Khris Ford at director@ncspiritualdirection.org. One of our directors will reach out to you to schedule a time to visit about your situation and our program.

VOLUNTEER FACILITATORS ARE NEEDED.  No experience is necessary to be a group facilitator.  We will provide all of the training needed in our 20 hour required training series. The required 20 hour training is scheduled for :
Thursdays in Aug. 15, 22, 29, Sept. 5, 6:30pm-9:00pm
Saturday, Sept. 7,  9am-4pm.
No child or adult should ever have to grieve alone and your presence and witness assures this won’t happen!  Won’t you join us as we launch this new initiative?  For more information about volunteering, contact Khris Ford at director@ncspiritualdirection.org.
